A Business That
Works for Nigeria
Industrial processing isn't just good economics — it creates jobs, empowers farmers, and reduces the import bill that drains national wealth.

A Market for Every Farmer Within 50km
Nexium's plant creates sustained, year-round demand for fresh cassava roots — giving smallholder farmers something they rarely have: a reliable, fair-priced industrial buyer who commits to volume in advance.
Our sourcing model is built on direct outgrower contracts with farmers and cooperatives within a 50km radius of our Ogbomoso plant. We pay for quality cassava at competitive prices, on predictable payment terms — removing the price volatility and delayed payments that plague farm-to-market relationships in Nigeria.
This is not corporate social responsibility layered on top of a business. It is the business. Without a reliable cassava supply, Nexium does not produce. The outgrower model is how we protect our own supply chain — and in doing so, create lasting income stability for farming families in our region.
"A reliable commercial buyer, paying on time, for volume — that is what changes the economics of smallholder farming."

In our 50km network
Reduces transport costs and ensures root freshness
Rising to 57,000 t/yr at full 95% utilisation
Processing, operations, logistics, quality, administration
Expanding into pharmaceutical-grade — new buyer segment, same plant
Skilled and semi-skilled industrial roles — equipment operation, quality control, lab testing, logistics — not casual labour
Skilled Industrial Jobs — Not Casual Labour
Nexium's 44+ direct employees work in an industrial processing environment — operating sophisticated equipment, running quality control, managing logistics, and maintaining certification standards.
These are not temporary or casual positions. They are skilled and semi-skilled industrial roles with defined responsibilities, structured training, and employment that grows as Nexium's output grows.
Beyond direct employment, the plant generates significant indirect employment across cassava transport, aggregation services, packaging supply, and maintenance contracting — multiplying the direct employment impact across the local economy.
As Nexium expands utilisation from 60% to 95%, additional roles will be created across shifts, quality, and logistics without requiring a new plant — delivering employment growth from a fixed capital investment.
Turning Nigeria's Import Bill Into Nigeria's Revenue
Every tonne of Nexium starch displaces an equivalent tonne of imported product — keeping foreign exchange in Nigeria and building domestic manufacturing capability.

by Year 5
At $800/tonne (import parity pricing), every tonne Nexium produces is a tonne of foreign exchange saved. Over five years, cumulative import substitution exceeds $75M at full utilisation trajectory — a meaningful contribution to Nigeria's food processing self-sufficiency.
Processing Responsibly
Cassava starch processing generates byproducts — water, fibre, peel — that must be managed responsibly. Nexium's environmental framework is built into the plant design, not added as an afterthought.
Our long-term ESG roadmap addresses water recycling, effluent management, energy efficiency, and byproduct utilisation — with a commitment to continuous improvement as the plant scales.
Water Management
Process water recycling and effluent treatment system — minimising freshwater draw and managing process waste within ≤20 m³/hr parameters.
Byproduct Utilisation
Cassava peel and fibre — generated during processing — are channelled into animal feed and composting partnerships, reducing waste and creating secondary value streams.
Energy Efficiency
Our processing line is specified for efficient energy use. The 671 KW dedicated generation footprint is sized precisely to production requirements — not over-specified.
ESG Roadmap
Formal ESG reporting framework to be introduced in Year 2 — covering environmental metrics, social impact data, and governance structures aligned with DFI reporting requirements.
Rooted in Oyo State
Nexium's plant is not parachuted into a community — it is built within one, and its success is anchored to the health of the local cassava-growing economy around it.

Ogbomoso sits within Oyo State's most productive cassava belt — a region with deep agricultural heritage, road connectivity to Nigeria's largest industrial markets, and a state government actively supporting manufacturing investment. Nexium is where it belongs.
Invest in Infrastructure That Matters
Nexium delivers financial returns and measurable development impact — jobs, farmer income, and import substitution — from a single industrial investment.
